Job Overview
We are a growing meal prep company seeking reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cooks to support our production kitchen. This role focuses on food preparation, portioning, and maintaining kitchen standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, follows recipes accurately, and takes pride in clean, consistent food execution.
This is a contract (1099) position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist with meal production based on established recipes and specifications
- Portion meals accurately according to standard guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, equipment, and storage areas
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures
- Assist with bulk meal prep for weekly production and catering needs
- Properly store ingredients and help minimize food waste
- Support kitchen operations to ensure production goals are met on schedule
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team during production days
Experience & Skills
- Prior experience in a prep cook, line cook, or meal prep environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization
- Comfortable with knife work, ingredient prep, and repetitive production tasks
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production kitchen
- Culinary training is a plus but not required — reliability and attention to detail are key
Schedule & Pay
- Contract (1099) position
- $16 per hour, paid weekly
- Production days scheduled in advance based on weekly needs
- Opportunities for growth as production volume increases
Additional Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Must follow all kitchen safety and sanitation standards
- Food handler certification preferred
